The boy's foster-mother, Frau Hanke, 40 years old, was murdered with him.

Pistol bullet entered head at vertex capitis and left head in region of left temple,
i.e. in a sharply descending path. In view of the fact that the child
was small for his age, it is to be assumed that the pistol shot
was fired from above at the child standing in an upright position.
